Below is a link to my WebQuest:
Christmas Around the World
Implementation:
This WebQuest will be completed by using computers, books, and in class activities.
Setting:
The first part of the WebQuest will be completed during the time we have in the computer lab. Since we are limited on time in the computer lab it will pobably take a week to get through the first portion on the WebQuest.
The second part will be done in the library. Each group will research their country, using books from the library. The majority of the information needed will be able to be found using computers, so the portion done in the library could be completed in one day.
The final part of this WebQuest will be done in class. Each student will be required to create a presentation of the information they have found. They can be creative with their presentations. They can make posters, do a PowerPoint presentation, a report, or any other approved ideas they come up with.

AI Project-- Accountability Component and Implementation
4th Grade Spelling
Accountability Compnent
To assess each students work I will require them to write and spell correctly, each word from the activites completed in the ai project. For their final project they will be making a comic strip on the computer, using the words from the activities previously completed.
They will be required to turn in the list of words from each activity along with their comic strip. This will allow me to tell what words they need to work on and what words they know well. Along with knowing how to spell the words the comic strip will show me whether they know how to use the words in context or not.
Implementation
This assignment is ment to be completed over a couple of days. I want them to do it during school (computer lab), so if there are any questions I will be there to answer them. It schould take two days to finish this project. The first day they will be able to complete the first two activities, where they will get a list of words they can choose from to create their final project (a comic strip). We will spend the second day creating a comic strip on the computer, using their choice of six words from the previous activites. If I notice some students are struggling with certain things I will be able to help them by planning activites specifc to the area which they are struggling.

Efficiently Searching the Interent
I found this article very interesting. It gave me a lot of good ideas on how to search the internet more efficiently. I often just type in one word when searching, which brings up many results. To narrow the number of results I get I will be more specific. I will type in a phrase rather than just one word. I will use the EXACT PHRASE field to narrow the search, so it will bring up items with that exact phrase. I will also trim the URL. Like it said in the article you will often find folders that are inside a fold, inside and folder, and so on. Triming the URL will help you find the original source.

NSDL
The website I chose to search was NSDL. I searched "weather," and found a lot fo useful results. My top three were :
Weather Scope
This website had weather related projects and activities that would be fun for students to do. The project I liked is one that would allow students to access real weather data on the internet, and make charts and graphs using the info found. I would use this project to teach students how to read weather data, and make charts and graphs.
Dan's Wild, Wild Weather Page
This website had a list of all types of weather realted topics. When you click on each topic it has info about each, and activities to go with it. This website could be used in the classroom just to get info. about a weather related topic, or it could also be used to find projects and activities to do with each topic.
Climate
This website describes weather vs. climate, different climate regions in the united states, gives a teachers guide, and also gives activities that have to do with climate. This is a great website for getting info. about climate. I would use this website to teach students about the differences in weather and climate.

iMovie
I thought this iMovie assignement was fun, but very time consuming and more difficult than I expected it to be. I don't think it would be appropriate to have elementary students create a movie using iMovie or other similiar applications. However, I do think it would be fun for students in upper grades, such as fifth or sixth grade, to film a movie then the teacher could put it together in iMovie for them. It would be benificial for the students, because if you are able to use the information you learn in class in ways other than doing worksheets and taking tests, it is usually easier to remeber. Filming a movie could be used as a final a project.
I think that if students had to create the entire movie, using iMovie they would spend more time learning the technology than the actual information they are presenting in the movie. However, I think there could be a balance between learning concepts and technology if the students are required to film a movie rather than put the entire thing together in iMovie. This would allow the student to use some technology by filming the movie, but it is still simple enough that they can focus on the educational purposes of the the movie.
I think iMovie is something I would have the students in my classroom use because I think it would be to difficult for them. However, I do not think I would totally exclude iMovie from the classroom. It could be used for me to present educational movies to the class, such as the ones we made in class.

Bubbleshare, Flickr, and Photobucket
There are a few differences between Bubbleshare, Flickr, and Photobucket. However, I think they are all pretty similar. The biggest difference I found between them is how hard or easy they are to use. Bubbleshare seemed pretty self explanatory while photobucket seemed a little more complex. I thought Flickr was right in between Bubbleshare and Photobucket.
These online sharing tools are great sources for the classroom however you have to be careful when using them. When looking up images inappropriate images that should not be viewed by children are often found. If you are careful there are still very useful ways to using online sharing tools in the classroom. In my classroom I would use Flickr for pen pals. It would be a great way for the students to be able to communicate with other students across the world. It would also allow them to upload pictures to share with their pen pal. They would not necessarily have to use search to send pictures. They could use their own pictures to upload and send which would reduce the chance the students had of coming across inappropriate images.
